Acupuncture is a technique of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine that works to bring balance to an animal's energy dynamics (movement of Chi) to restore health. Moxibustion is the burning of a specific type of herb near acupuncture points in order to move and unblock stagnant Chi, thereby restoring an animal to good health. In applying this theory behind homeopathy, the damaging substance is diluted or "potentiated" to have its beneficial effect. In effect, substances that can cause a set of symptoms in healthy animals are given to sick animals to cure them of those same symptoms, but in a very diluted form.
